Brief description of experiences / presentation submitted: Considering that we were hit by the unprecedented circumstances. It would be best to equip ourselves with more options and tools in our arsenals. I believe that the mechanism that I am about to share could be applied to all of the courses. You only need to be flexible and creative.

What I am about to share is how you can use FREE apps to effectively enhance your online instruction.
So there are basically five things that I would like to share:
1. Telegram/WeChat/WhatsApp (preferably Telegram).
- Use this app to chat with your students. It is understandable that there are chat box on the video conferences app as well but it would be best to use a chat app since your texts will be automatically recorded. Plus it is easy to keep track of your daily/weekly progress. This one is crucial even before MCO was annouced, do not forget to create a specific group for the course that you are teaching. Compare to the other chat apps, telegram has bigger capacity (storage). I do not recommend using the chat box on video conference throughout your online instruction, some might record your texts for you but you need to pay for such function, and it was such a hussle from my experience. Better be safe than sorry.
2. VooV meeting, GoogleMeet (GM), Zoom, or any other free online video conference applications (preferably VooV and GoogleMeet)
- Since I have been using both apps, they are almost similar in functions. Except that VooV is more sophisticated compare to GM, while Zoom is almost similar to VooV. There are other apps that I have not got the chance to try yet. But at the moment I am using VooV to teach my students. The advantages of VooV are that it is not laggy, you can freely move around your camera box, chat box and your shared box. Which most of the other apps does not have. Anyways, since it is free you will not be able to record your video conferences, but do no fret boys and girls.
3. You can record your screen for FREE by using the XBox app on windows, and I think there is a screen recorder on mac to. If you like to stream, or find a better screen recorder. You can install OBS Studio.
[Xbox app]
- Since I am using windows, you can use the XBox app for FREE. If you do not have the app, you can also download it for FREE.
- To record your screen, open up your video conference app, then click "window button" + G, then you can see a record button somewhere on your screen. Click that to begin your recording. As simple as that. Later, you can find your recording in your pc > videos > captures folder.
[OBS Studio]
- This software might look complicated but it is not difficult to use.
- Once you opened the app, look at the bottom and click "sources" and click on the "+" then select "Display Capture", if you want to put a webcam in your recording, click the "+" again, and select "Video Capture Device".
- You can begin by clicking the "start recording" button, and you can find your recorded video under your pc > videos folder.
4. Set your teaching materials in PDF file.
- PDF is more convenient to use when teaching online. You can use the comment function, and do whatever you want with your materials. To open up that function, look at the right panel of your pdf screen, at the bottom of the panel click on "more tools" then click "comment" and you have all the necessary functions to do whatever you want with your teaching material. You can add text, draw, highlight and more. It would be nice if you have the digital pen for pc.
- So the purpose of using PDF is to replace the classic whiteboard we used in real classroom.
5. Using Paint app on your computer to transfer images is something that you always need when teaching online.
- So to specifically capture things that you want to show to your students, first click the "PrtSc button" on your keyboard. Open up Paint, and click "paste". Then click "select" and drag to whichever you want your students to see. Once dragged. Right click on the selected dragged box, then click copy, and you can paste the image to your whatsapp web, or wechat on pc, etc. Do not use your phone to take a picture
of your dekstop screen. It is not clear. It is not a professional work.
