Course Synopsis: This course is designed to introduce the basic in Ecosystem Services with special emphasis on primary and secondary metabolites. Their bio-synthetic pathways and how plants and animals use them in nature. Students will also be introduced to the chemical ecology in terrestrial and marine environment. In conclusion, students will be given a total view of sustainable utilization of flora and fauna in drug discovery research activities undertaken globally. This course aims to provide the students with the basic in Natural Products Chemistry.

Course Synopsis: The course emphasizes concepts and theories in Ecology. It gives students a comprehensive introduction to the subject, with particular attention being paid to different levels of ecological organisation (individuals, populations, communities and ecosystems).Lectures will also include topical subjects including human impacts on the environment, global crises such as climate change and other threats to biodiversity.

CLO2: Demonstrate ecological and environmental issues subjected to anthropogenic influences

Brief description of experiences / presentation submitted: Whatsapp group was created to provides instant and fast communication between lecturer and students during this Covid-19 Pandemic. The asynchronous teaching and learning method and the change of assessments were explained to students via Whatsapp and Smart3UMS platform. Lecture notes and additional video lectures have been uploaded in Smart3UMS. Q&A sessions are made available via forum in Smart3UMS, Whatsapp, and email. Online quiz and assignments have been given via quiz and assignment functions in Smart3UMS, respectively. Students with no or slow response have been contacted individually via private message in Whatsapp and Smart3UMS.
